There is exciting news related to autism. Recently, the researchers approached accurate test for autism, a finding that could lead to early diagnosis and treatment.

Tests that use conventional magnetic resonance imaging or MRI machine, was allegedly able to detect 94 percent of individuals with autism trend, according to the publication in the journal Autism Research.

"This is the best but the biological basis of the search must still be conducted in terms of ability to distinguish between them with and without the disorder," said Nicholas Lange of Harvard Medical School, who mmemimpin Neurostatistics Laboratory at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts, as reported by Reuters.

According to Lange, this new preliminary findings. However, if confirmed in larger studies, this test may replace the current subjective test used to diagnose autism disorders. Autism is characterized by difficulties in social interaction, communication, and understand other people's emotions and behavior.

For this study, researchers at McLean and the team led by Dr. Janet Lainhart from the University of Utah, using MRI which is set to take microscopic features of brain wiring, a technique known as Diffusion Tensor Imaging.

This team did brain scans on 30 people with autism and 30 people without autism. They found that brain circuits are significantly different in those with autism compared with those with normal brain function, particularly in areas of the brain involved in language and social function and emotional.

By measuring the six aspects of brain circuitry, the test can correctly pick people who have been diagnosed with autism with 94 percent accuracy rate.

A repeat study using two different sets of subjects who showed the same level of performance.

Lange said the findings should help make the process more scientific diagnosis of autism because it will depend on the test, not a subjective assessment. Early diagnosis of autism can help children affected by the disorder to get early intervention.
