Pregnant women are advised to always eat a balanced diet, this certainly is not without reason. Studies show that too much fat consumption in pregnancy increases the risk of stillbirth (still birth).

The results showed, monkeys who received fat foods every day decreased blood flow to the placenta by 56 percent. This effect was observed not only in obese monkeys, apes and even experienced it too thin.
"This study suggests that diet during pregnancy influences placental and fetal development. high-fat diet increases the risk of stillbirths," said one researcher, Dr. Antonio Frias as quoted from Dailymail.
In this study, Japanese macaques monkey is used as it is considered a high similarity with humans in the structure of the placenta. Damage to blood vessels in the placenta as observed in this study is a major risk factor for stillbirth.
