What are the characteristics of children with autism? For more convenience, Gayatri Pamoedji SE, MHC, the founder of Autism Society of Indonesia (MPATI) provides guidance questions to be answered parents to detect autism in children:
1. Does the child have an interest in other children?
2. Has the child ever use the index to show a sense of attraction to something?
3. Does your child's eyes more and 1 or 2 seconds?
4. Does your child imitate you? For example, if you make a certain expression, whether he imitate?
5. Does the child reacted when her name was called?
6. When you point to a toy or anything else in the room, whether he saw the toy / object?
7. Do children ever go on the stage / playing a role, such as pretending to like dolls, talking on the phone, and so forth?
Well, the chance of bearing a child with autism when at least 2 of the above questions is answered NO. Children with at least "2 NO" that should be examined by the experts such as psychologists or psychiatrists to get the right diagnosis. Diagnosing autism is not easy because the characteristics of autism are so many varieties. The observation moment can be concluded as a result has not been absolute. Input from parents about the chronology of the development of children is paramount in determining the accuracy of the diagnosis.
